I’m immensely proud to finally be able to present the first full lenght Boyle Klöfver Duo album. Named after the piece the duo commissioned from the Scottish composer Eddie McGuire Passing Season, sets the tone for a varied and interesting disc also including works from the French great era of flute playing and fiery Argentinian tangoes by Astor Piazzolla.

“The message is all in the titles and the music will carry the sense. However, the themes of the movements are all instinctively related and continual variation is going on, reflecting seasonal and emotional change.”
Eddie McGuire
“I really enjoy performing the works of Eddie McGuire. Being a flautist himself and having a great understanding of the guitar gives him unrivalled insight into writing for the instruments, something that becomes apparent when immersing oneself in his music. He has a beautiful personal tonal language and his music often bears an air of reminiscence of his native Scotland, making his music very grounded.”
Kimberley Boyle
“As a duo we have previously recorded McGuire’s Improvisations on Calderon, and as it has become a cornerstone of our repertoire we are very proud to have been able to commission Passing Seasons, of which this album takes its name. I specifically remember one rehearsal when we were working on the two movements completed first, and all of a sudden one freshly completed movement arrives to Kimberley’s email. Quickly printing it out, putting it on our music stands and counting in. We were the first to witness it played for the very first time, a very special feeling.“
